When we first set out on this crazy RV adventure, we thought we (mostly) knew what we were signing up for… Spoiler alert: we had no idea.
But now, years later, we’ve settled into a rhythm—a wildly unconventional one, for sure—that still fuels our passion to live a freedom driven life. So, what does daily life look like now for us?
Buckle up and we’ll tell you all about it. 🤗
For six months of the year, we are full-on road warriors, moving to a different state almost every week. Kyle’s job as a PGA Tour caddie keeps us on the move, and our little home on wheels rolls right along with us. We now clock about 12,000 miles in a season—a far cry from the 25,000 we used to do in the early years—and this slightly less hectic pace suits us perfectly at this point in our lives.
Each spring, we hook up our RV, wave goodbye to our Arizona winter spot, and hit the road with the same spirit of adventure we felt on day one. While many of the destinations are repeats (Kyle’s schedule has its regular stops), the beauty of this life is that every day feels fresh. Whether it’s a new hiking trail, a hole-in-the-wall dinner, or simply a beautiful sunrise over a different horizon, there’s always something new to appreciate.
Come fall, our travels slow a bit as we settle into our winter routine in Arizona. Finding the RV resort, where we now stay each year, was such a blessing. From the moment we parked there during our first winter, we knew we’d found something special. The community, the weather, the sense of belonging—it’s all pretty amazing.
Every October, as the Arizona (still HOT!) sun welcomes us back, we feel like we’ve arrived home. We look forward to visiting with our new “winter” friends—who are more like family at this point—and we all pick up right where we left off in the spring. Winter days still include work, but are also a mix of relaxation, socializing, and recharging for the next season on the road.
I’ll admit, when we first started talking about selling our house and living in an RV full-time, I had my doubts. My biggest fear? That I’d feel displaced, like we didn’t truly belong anywhere. But what I found instead was the exact opposite.
The truth is, home isn’t a physical place—it’s a feeling. And for us, that feeling is wherever we are together. Whether it’s a mountainside campsite, a new RV park, an overnight rest stop or our favorite Arizona resort, we’ve learned that belonging isn’t tied to a zip code. It’s tied to the life we’ve chosen to create – and the people we’ve been blessed to share it with.
Of course, it hasn’t all been a smooth road…
There have been breakdowns, both mechanical and emotional. We’ve faced unpredictable (and pretty scary!) weather, tight schedules, and the occasional “Are we really doing this?” moment. But even on the hardest days, we’ve never regretted our choice.
The highs far outweigh the lows.
The freedom to design our life, the ever-changing views outside our windows, and the countless stories we’ve collected along the way remind us daily why we chose this path. Every sunset over a new location and every friendship made around a campfire reaffirms that this unconventional life is worth every mile.
For now, we’ll keep doing what we love: chasing adventure, embracing freedom, and savoring the beauty of a life designed by choice, not tradition. And when the miles start calling again each spring, we’ll be ready—RV hitched, hearts full, and a playlist queued up for the open road.
Life on the road isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay—because true freedom isn’t about where you live, it’s about how you choose to live.
For us, that meant hitting the road, but for you, it might mean something entirely different. If you’ve ever felt the pull to break free from the ordinary and follow what truly lights you up, let this be your sign: freedom starts with a decision. You just have to take the first step—or in our case, the first mile.
So, what about you? What’s your dream of freedom? We’d love to hear—and maybe even meet you out on the road someday!
Let us know—we’d love to hear about it!
The road to freedom is not found in security, but in courage.
