While I’m lucky enough to be living a freedom-driven life today, it looks like nothing I would have ever imagined for myself!
I grew up checking all the “right” boxes – college, home ownership, a solid job – but something was always missing. I eventually realized I was following a path that made everyone else happy, but not me. I was living someone else’s dream, and I knew I had to change that.
In 2004, I made a bold move and took a leap of faith to leave my very lucrative corporate job after 15 years. Despite all the lessons learned, the incredible memories and achievements, the company had changed, and so had I. I wasn’t happy. The stress was overwhelming, and I knew I needed something different.
I didn’t have a plan.
No safety net.
No idea what was next.
I left the security of a job for the unknown, chasing the freedom to create my own path and live life on my terms. As scary as it was, it truly was one of the most freeing decisions I’ve ever made. (The first time I felt that rush was when I moved across the country at 18, by myself, to start college. – more on that later!)
Since that leap of faith in 2004, I’ve been on an entrepreneurial journey, working as a marketing contractor, which has allowed me to maintain the freedom I crave. It hasn’t always been easy, and there were times I longed for the security of a steady paycheck, but the call to freedom kept me going.
In 2011, my boyfriend (now husband), Kyle, and I started talking seriously about selling our house and hitting the road in an RV full-time. {insert, “what the hell were you thinking?!” here!}
Surprisingly, it didn’t seem that crazy to us – Kyle’s career already had him traveling all over the states every week, and I was working remotely, so I wasn’t tied down geographically. We made the jump, had an RV custom-built to our exact specifications, and set off in 2012 without looking back!
We’ve now been living this nomadic lifestyle for over a decade.
Soooo much has changed since we started this journey. The world has changed, and we have changed but we still love our crazy unconventional life, and we always look forward to the next adventure.
Remote work has become more mainstream, and with Wi-Fi technology advancing significantly over the past decade, it’s never been easier to stay connected – even when we’re in a new zip code every week!
The marketing landscape is constantly evolving, as I am.
Over the years, I’ve rolled with the punches as digital marketing has changed at lightning speed. What once looked like chaos now feels like opportunity in disguise – exciting chances to learn, grow, and stay on top of the game.
As tech kept evolving and new platforms popped up, I always looked for ways to level up my skills. From the boom of social media to the twists in SEO and automation, every shift has been a chance to rethink my approach, break through new boundaries, and help others rock this ever-changing digital world.
My journey hasn’t been about just keeping up—it’s been about thriving and turning challenges into opportunities for growth. And the flexibility of remote work means I can help my clients from any corner of the country.
Life on the road has taught me a lot about pursuing what sets your soul on fire. It’s easy to feel stuck, but we all have that drive for freedom within us – sometimes, we just need a little push to make it happen. (And that doesn’t mean you mean to be a nomad! You just need to trust yourself to follow whatever your heart is calling you to do!)
Kyle and I feel incredibly lucky, and we are mindful to always count our blessings.
We are blessed to be able to live like we’re on vacation while doing the work we each love. Sure, it’s not always glamorous – for six months each year we move every 6-7 days, so it can be pretty hectic. But the changing scenery, memories to last a lifetime and quality time with friends and family along the way makes it all worth it!
The balance of the year? We set up our RV at a resort in Arizona, calling it our “winter home” – we soak up as much sun as we can and enjoy visiting with our “winter family”!
Growing up in Boston and moving to Arizona for college, I haven’t seen snow in decades. And Kyle, a California native, has never seen the snow fall from the sky! Who knows – maybe one winter, we’ll brave the cold and head to a snowy destination for a new adventure. (but don’t hold your breath for that update!)
In addition to managing my marketing clients, I’ve officially launched my new brand, Freedom Driven Life. This is something that resonates deeply with my husband and me because, individually and together, we each have a strong adventurous spirit and desire to live life on our own terms.
Over the years, I’ve been helping other women grow their marketing skills – whether to scale their existing businesses or to start their own freelance marketing careers. Now, I’m bringing everything together in a more streamlined fashion to be able to teach more women how to live a freedom-driven life, just like I have.
I know firsthand that breaking free from the “expected path” isn’t always easy—but it’s absolutely worth it. My goal is to give other women the tools, skills, and confidence to create a business (and life) that fits them, not the other way around. Because when you have the freedom to call the shots, do the work you love, and live life on your own terms… well, that’s when the real magic happens!
